Stephen Thompson (1830-92) was a commercial photographer hired by the British Museum to photograph its collections in the early 1870s. The complete work comprised seven volumes in total: I, Pre-Historic Remains of Europe and Asia; II, Egyptian Antiquities; III, Assyrian Antiquities; IV; Grecian Antiquities; V, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities; VI, Antiquities of Britain; VII, Seals of Sovereigns, Corporations, etc..
