Footnote
A handsome memorial volume produced to commemorate the departure of the senate of the University of Glasgow from the Old College Buildings in the city's Blackfriars district. Copies were issued with the photographs as albumen prints or carbon prints, with no priority assigned. ‘On 28th July, 1870, the Senate of the University of Glasgow met for the last time in the Old College Buildings … On that site the work of the University had been carried on for upwards of four hundred and fifty years. It seemed desirable to secure some permanent memorial of the venerable structure before it underwent any change’ (Introductory Note).
