Library edition of 600 copies for the UK and 150 for America, 4 volumes, 8vo (22 x 14cm), light blue morocco binding by Otto Schulze & Co. of Edinburgh, spine gilt in compartments with raised bands, with thistle decorative tool on spine and turn-ins, fore-edge and bottom edge untrimmed, top edge gilt, light sunning to spines;

Lizars, pp. 97-8 omitted in pagination but the work is complete, with bookplate of armorial book-plate of Sir T[homas] Dawson Brodie (1832-96), containing his signature, head and tail of spine and corner tips rubbed, title page lightly dust-soiled (7)
