Scott, 131 Old Bond Street, 1797. 8 etchings with original hand-colour, mounted, framed and glazed, mount apertures 36.5 x 28cm, titles comprising ‘Fix Bayonet’, ‘Charge Bayonet’, ‘Port Arms’, ‘Order Arms', ‘Order Arms, First Motion’, ‘Order Arms, Second Motion’, ‘Shoulder Arms’, ‘Present Arms, Second Motion’. Together with 6 engraved plates from an early edition of Jacob de Gheyn, The Exercise of Armes, 1608 or later (hand-coloured, mounted, framed and glazed, 30 x 23cm) (14)

These etchings are believed to be from Scott's 1797 work Manual and Exercises, which contained 10 plates in total. The work is referenced in Ogilby, Index to British Military Costume Prints 1500-1914 (1972, catalogue no. 811), but is not mentioned by Abbey or Tooley. A set is held by the National Army Museum (catalogue no. 1974-05-32); no other set traced in auction records.
