Relating to Admiral Sir William Hall, his wife (nee Byng), members of the Byng family (Earls of Torrington), their daughter who married Capt. C.D. Lucas (the first person to receive the V.C.), including a letter by the Duke of Wellington to Vice Admiral Lord Viscount Torrington conveying His Majesty's opinion regarding Torrington's proposal for a Memorial, a letter from Princess Louise, an albumen visiting card of Admiral Sir William Hall, vellum document; appointment by the Dowager Viscountess Torrington in favour of her Daughter the Honourable Hilaire Caroline Byng, 22nd April 1845; Capt. Hall's notes of his interview with His Grace the Duke of Northumberland in 1852 on the subject of "Sailor's Homes"; an original watercolour sketch of the "Attack on the Russian forts at Eknas 3rd Oct. 1855 by the Gunboats Stork, Lt.
