Description
Hand drawn map of the plan for a new line of road from Fettercairn by Potarch or Belwade and Boat of Forbes to Huntly, 215 x 51 cms. Colour washed and hand coloured in outline, the map is on three sheets of paper joined together and backed with canvas, with a wooden pole. Two small tears in upper sheet. [c. 1800]
Note: Probably prepared in connection with the work being undertaken by the Commission of Highland Roads who were responsible for preparing a bridge at Potarch in 1814. Haldane. Drove Roads of Scotland, p. 124.
