Note: A copy after the original plates of Callot's famous series Les Miserès de la Guerre, it depicts an unromanticised view of the horrors and brutality of war, an approach not seen again until Goya. First published in 1633, these impressions were, according to the titlepage, undertaken by Leon Schenk. Loosely inserted are two further prints by Callot of triumphal chariots.
