Footnote
Tortoise-form weights of this form appears to be quite rare with prototype dated to the late Warring States period to early Western Han dynasty, such as two sold at Christie's New York, 30 Mar 2005, lot 236 and 16 Sep 2010, lot 907. An archaistic gold and silver-inlaid bronze tortoise-form box and jade cover, dated to the Song dynasty, was exhibited at the National Museum, Stockholm and sold at Sotheby's New York, 20 March 2024, lot 296. Another comparable archaistic gilt-bronze silver-inlaid tortoise-form water pot, dated to the 17th/18th century, was sold at Christie's New York, 27 Jul 2016, lot 266.
