Footnote
Min Yeong-ik was well known for his paintings of orchids and bamboo, but he was also a renowned politician, poet, and calligrapher. A comparable ink painting of orchids by Min, with a poem written by the Chinese calligrapher and painter Pu Hua (1832-1911), is in the National Museum of Korea, accession number Koo5216. Also see a bamboo ink painting, is in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, object number TR:246-2022.
