Welcome to our March 2026 Asian Works of Art auction, led by Brushes Across Empire: Works from the Collection of Sir James Stewart Lockhart (1858 - 1937) (Lots 1 - 179).&nbsp;Comprising approximately 180 lots of Chinese paintings, ceramics and works of art, the collection reflects the scholarly eye of Sir James Stewart Lockhart, who served in Hong Kong from 1879 and later as Commissioner of Weihaiwei. The sale is offered on behalf of, and to benefit, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.gwc.org.uk/">George Watson’s College</a>, Edinburgh.The auction also features a private Glasgow collection of Chinese paintings and ceramics (Lots 186–196), a private English collection of Chinese bronzes and jades (Lots 208–225), Chinese jades from Homer Ling (Lots 227–229), a Perthshire collection of bronzes and wood carvings (Lots 238–246), snuff bottles from Prof. J. Gilbert and Cora McAllister (Lots 267–281), west of Scotland and Renfrewshire collections of Chinese and Japanese works (Lots 302–305; 325–329) and a private UK collection of Southeast Asian art (Lots 343–346).
