Camille Tharaud owned a family ceramics business and exhibited at the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle. Tharaud worked in pâte-sur-pâte and depicting landscapes and botanical subjects. This present dish has the fluid arabesque lines of the Art Nouveau style and the female subject matter. Later Tharaud produced Art Deco style porcelain works, with some of the pieces being designed by Marcel Goupy.
