Margaret Wright was born in Ayr in 1884 and is the sister of James Wright.
Studying at the Glasgow School of Art from 1902 until 1908, she was part of the Glasgow Society of Lady Artists and influenced by the Glasgow Boys, comprising W. Y. Macgregor, James Paterson, James Guthrie, Joseph Crawhall, George Henry, E. A. Walton, and John Lavery. She exhibited regularly at the Royal Glasgow Institute, Royal Scottish Academy and the Paisley Art Institute.
Margaret passed away in Gourock where she had lived for many years.
