Jonathan Owen trained at Leeds Metropolitan University and Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). Working across sculpture, drawing and installations, Owen is interested in the transformation of readymade objects and images, as well as collapse, destabilisation and erasure as creative processes.
Solo exhibitions include those held at Holmwood House, Glasgow (2026) and at Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh (2011, 2014, 2016, 2021). Group exhibitions include Drawn through Time, Djanogly Gallery, Nottingham (2026) and GENERATION, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh (2014).
Untitled from his Edinburgh Art Festival commission, More Lasting than Bronze (2016) was acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; Owen’s work is represented in other public collections including the National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Art Gallery. He is a Lecturer at ECA and lives and works in Edinburgh.
