John Beagles (b.1970 London) and Graham Ramsay (b.1968 Kirkcaldy) are a collaborative visual artist duo based in Glasgow. Beagles trained at the Slade School of Fine Art in London and at Glasgow School of Art (GSA). Ramsay trained at the University of Leeds and at GSA, where he met Beagles; they have worked together since 1996.
Their multi-media practice includes film, performance and music. Solo exhibitions include Black Pudding Self Portrait at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh (2024) and NHOTB & RAD at the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (2023). Group exhibitions include Zenomap at the Venice Biennale (2003) and Romantic Detachment at MoMA PS1, New York (2004).
Beagles & Ramsay are represented in public collections including the National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh and Glasgow Life. Until 2023, Beagles was Director of Taught Postgraduate Study in Art and of the MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the University of Edinburgh. Ramsay is Reader in Contemporary Art Practice at GSA.
