Lyon & Turnbull is proud to sponsor both national & international charities, museums and Arts Instititions. In additional to our own auction calendar we host a full range of fundraising events, exhibitions and other events in our Edinburgh, Glasgow and London locations.
Fundraising is something that Lyon & Turnbull are committed to whether it be offering our skills for charity auctioneering, hosting “Antiques Roadshow" style valuation events throughout the country in a wide variety of locations, or online charity auctions on our website. Our Partnerships team will be happy to discuss opportunities.
Exhibitions
As a compliment to our auction schedule, all three Lyon & Turnbull locations also host a range of art and design exhibitions throughout the year. Working in partnership with curators, historians, private collectors and institutions has produced a varied and thought-provoking series of exhibitions on subjects from Britain's first female artists to the sustainable future of precious metals.
Past highlights have included: "Bright Souls" The Forgotten Story of Britain's First Female Artists, curated by Dr Bendor Grosvenor; Design Exhibition Scotland, curated by Susanna Beaumont; Sculpted | The Art of the Object, curated by Philip Smith; Perspectives | Creating Jewellery for a Fairer Future, curated by the Incorporation of Goldsmiths in partnership with Fair Luxury; Scottish Vernacular Furniture, curated by Bernard Cotton and Oceania | Across the Pacific, curated by Alexander Tweedy.
Charity Auctions
Lyon & Turnbull's team of auctioneers have been delighted to assist a great many charities over the years with their auction events. The team pride themselves on using their years of experience to get the best from an audience on the evening – really making a spectacle of the event and keeping everyone enraptured, and in a generous mood, throughout the auction.
Valuation Days
From the South-East of England to the North of Scotland, the Lyon & Turnbull team has assisted a great number of charities in raising both their profile and funds through antiques valuation days. By offering “Antiques Roadshow” style valuations in return for a donation, considerable funds can be raised in just one afternoon or evening. Our events team are also happy to work alongside the host charity to maximise the impact of the valuation event, from promotional ideas to accompanying activities, making it a memorable and successful day for all.
Talks & Lectures
From the lives of the Scottish Colourists to the ecology of design, our main saleroom has played host to a huge range of speakers on a vast range of subjects. Recent speakers have included National Galleries curator Alice Strang; master engraver Malcolm Appleby; furniture designer Timothy Gosling and leading Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek.
