It Wasn't Instant
I don’t think I truly fell in love with photography until the final year of my photography degree. It took years of study, mediocre results, failed experiments, embarrassing Photoshop attempts, tears, self-doubt, the turmoil of creative block, sleep deprivation, and a whole lot of frustration before I found my rhythm.
I’ve always been a creative person, whether through drawing, painting, writing, or crafts. During that final year, when I felt lost in trying to find my place as a photographer, I began incorporating those creative outlets into my practice and in doing so, I finally discovered my voice within the photographic field.
Doing What I Love Everyday
Blurring the boundaries between photography, sculpture, and installation, my personal work explores the relationship between perception and space. By combining projection lighting and small-scale installations, I transform simple materials into immersive environments. I love bringing elements of my personal discovery into the work I do at Lyon & Turnbull.
Photography is so much more than the image we put out into the world. It’s the magic that happens behind the scenes, the people involved in bringing it to life, and the endless possibilities that exist beyond a photograph.
