Reflecting over two decades of travel, discovery and thoughtful collecting, we are delighted to offer a private collection of scent bottles in our 13 & 14 May Five Centuries auction.
This single owner collection of scent bottles, from a private home in East Lothian, was collected over a twenty-five year period. The vendor enjoys travel and purchased the scent bottles in various places including Edinburgh, at antique fairs across the UK, Paris, New York and Amsterdam. Looking out for special bottles was an enjoyable diversion on trips abroad, rather than a mission. Scent bottles, as well as other items such as fans and jewellery, appeal to the vendor as they reflect nostalgia for a past age of elegance as well as the fact that each bottle has its own beauty and individual character.
