We are delighted to continue our growth in London by welcoming Andrew Robb as our new Head of Valuations in the south.
Andrew brings over twenty-four years of experience to his role. He began his career at Bonhams, working in the Edinburgh saleroom before spending eleven years as a general valuer in their Glasgow office. He later joined the New Bond Street Valuations Department in London, where he served for 10 years rising to become Director of Valuations.
Andrew has said, "My interests and training have come from the applied arts side of the auction world following my degree from the University of Glasgow in Scottish and Medieval History and then a postgraduate degree with the Christie’s Decorative Arts Programme also at the University of Glasgow.
I love working with clients, where I am seeing the personal connection and more agile nature of an auction house such as Lyon & Turnbull becoming more important.
I have worked on many private and distinguished collections across the world and dealt with such wonderful and interesting people such as, Sir Michael Caine when I was entrusted to present his personal collection to sale.
I can count myself as 4th generation of auctioneer in my family, with my father, grandfather and great grandfather all having been auctioneers of land and livestock.
My main focus in my first year with Lyon & Turnbull is to expand their valuations business in London and deliver the same great client service as they do in Scotland and for which they have become renowned for."

Further significant projects Andrew has been involved with throughout his career, include sourcing and selling a rare 13th-century Islamic bronze royal tent pole, Admiral Nelson’s favourite armchair from HMS Victory (gifted to him by Emma Hamilton), The Michael Caine Collection (mentioned above, which achieved several world records), and The Hilary Gerrard Collection of first editions and Beatles-related memorabilia.

Andrew will work closely with private clients and collections, as well as extensively collaborating with lawyers, art advisors, and insurance brokers.
