Lyon & Turnbull are delighted to offer viewing for our forthcoming Asian Works of Art auction from 08 to 11 March 2026 in our Broughton Place saleroom.
The auction will feature Brushes Across Empire: Works from the Collection of Sir James Stewart Lockhart (1858–1937), a landmark collection of Chinese paintings as well as ceramics, and works of art.
Comprising approximately 180 lots, Brushes Across Empire celebrates the discerning eye and enduring legacy of Sir James Stewart Lockhart, a distinguished scholar, linguist, and colonial administrator who served in Hong Kong from 1879 and later as Commissioner of Weihaiwei between 1902 and 1921. The collection is offered for sale on behalf of, and to benefit, George Watson’s College, Edinburgh.
