Note:
Mackintosh's job books list 'writing room furniture' for the Hous'hill commission of 1909. This drawing is the only evidence of a table that could correspond with this description, having a flap at one end of the table that could serve as a desk or writing shelf. A table corresponding to this drawing, one of Mackintosh's most accomplished and elegant pieces is in the collection of Glasgow School of Art. Drawn by an office assistant - see also lot 86.
