Description
Probably German, of rectangular form and heavy construction, the hinged lid carrying an internal lock mechanism, working seven independent bolts, operated by a key through a central keyhole, lacking pivoting cover to the exterior, the mechanism covered by ward-plates elaborately pierced and engraved with addorsed winged female demi-figures, front straps engaging with staples, the sides and lid reinforced with riveted straps; together with another strongbox, of rectangular form and heavy construction, the exterior of the lid with lockplate chased and pierced with scrolling foliage (2)
