Description
probably German, of rectangular form and heavy construction, the hinged lid carrying an internal lock mechanism, working five independent bolts, operated by a key through a central keyhole, with pivoting cover to the exterior, the mechanism covered by a pierced ward-plate, hinged lid support, internal lidded lockable compartment with key, front straps engaging with staples on the lid, the sides and lid reinforced with riveted straps; together with a smaller strongbox, painted black overall, lacking mechanism (2)
