Northbranch (Jewell County, Kansas, USA) H5 (stone) - found 1972
A single piece was found in a grain field in 1972 - the finder took it to a local university and was initially told that he did not have a meteorite. In 1997 it was studied in greater detail by professional meteoriticists and confirmed as a genuine meteorite. The Northbranch meteorite is now officially recognised and recorded in the Meteoritical Bulletin of the Meteoritical Society.
