Footnote
Esquel (Chubut, Argentina) pallasite (stony-iron) - found 1951
Often described as 'The Queen of Pallasites', the Esquel meteorite is one of the most beautiful and visually appealing meteorites yet discovered.
Pallasites are a mix of olivine crystals encased in a web of nickel-iron and are considered to form the core-mantle boundary layer within an asteroid.
Thinly cut Esquel slices are translucent, allowing light to pass through the olivine crystals like a stained glass window.
