Literature: Carruthers, A. Edward Barnsley and his Workshop, 1992, p.175, fig. 94 where a similar writing cabinet is illustrated.
Note: This cabinet includes a new feature on furniture made from about 1965, where the handles are incorporated into the top edge of the drawer, giving a "smoother appearance with minimal disruption to the grain of the wood on the drawer front". The cabinet bears inscription under the interior drawer "This writing desk was designed for Mr John Minoprio by Edward Barnsley and made by assistant George Taylor in the Froxfield Workshop in 1971. Foreman manager Herbert Upton.
