Footnote
Note: The original, now in the Munich Glyptothek, was first mentioned in 1628. It was discovered in Castel Sante' Angelo during fortification work in 1624 and became the property of Cardinal Francesco Baberini. It was restored on various occasions during the 17th century by artist under Bernini instruction. Changes to the pose and finishing touches were made in 1642 and 1704. Although it was regarded as one of the most beautiful of classical statues by Cassiano dal Pozzo and Winkelmann, no small bronzes are known, until the 19th century.
