Footnote
Note: The Imperial steam yacht Livadiya was built for Alexander II at the Glasgow yard of John Elder & Co in 1880 to an unorthodox design by Rear-Admiral Popov. She proved so unstable that she was seriously damaged on her commissioning voyage to Sebastopol. Alexander II was assassinated the following year and the vessel was stripped of its opulent contents. A pair of plates from the Livadiya service sold Christie's Russian Art, London, 6 June, lot 324
