the cylindrical handle with a veneer of lapis lazuli, the hinged gold mount with openwork collar decorated with wavy motifs, the waisted foot with two hinged mounts enclosing pale purple, orange and oyster-coloured agate matrix engraved with a crest and the Russian monogram ‘EBE’ the emblem of a sheaf of corn
