AFTER A GILLOWS DESIGN, CIRCA 1800

Auction: Day One: 14 March 2012 From 10am
£11,250
Description
with three leaf insertions, on turned column supports ending on slightly squared cabriole legs ending on raised pad feet
170cm wide, 74cm high, 464cm long (extended)
Note: the distinct shape of the pedestals and legs of the Blair dining table are similar to one supplied by Gillows to Hugh Montgomerie, 12th Earl of Eglinton, for Eglinton Castle, Ayrshire, circa 1800 and now in Dumfries House. The same pattern was made for Bellamour, Staffordshire in 1798 by cabinet-maker George Atkinson, who executed a number of similar dining tables for Gillows between 1790 and 1802.
