Footnote
Bridgeton lies to the east of Glasgow. Originating as a weaving village in the early eighteenth century, as the textiles industry developed so too did Bridgeton's infrastructure, and tenements were constructed to accommodate local workers. The traffic lights in this vibrant oil may reference the Bridgeton Cross, an infamous junction. Toner has carried the traffic light tones of red, yellow and green across the composition to suggest the frenetic urgency of city life.
