Hugh Buchanan has fulfilled commissions for important patrons including the King Charles III (for whom he painted the interiors of Balmoral and Highgrove in 1994), the House of Commons (for whom he painted interiors of the Palace of Westminster in 1988), and the House of Lords (for whom he painted the lying in state of the Queen Mother at the Palace of Westminster in 2002).
Here, Buchanan portrays the ‘Roman-Baroque’ Bank of Scotland building at the top of the Mound in the heart of Edinburgh.
