Footnote
The Industrial Revolution made huge technological advances, but it also inspired resistance movements such as the Arts and Crafts which focused on traditional crafts.
The Keswick Industrial school of Art was born from this mind-set with the aims of 'avoiding turning men into machines;' 'to show that in there is an abundance of skill…'
The school existed from 1894 until 1984 and offered schooling on copper, brass stainless steel and silver. The silver pieces tended to be individual commissions.
