Gifted in the 1930s to Christina Martin (née MacTaggart) as thanks to her contribution to the North India School of Medicine for Christian Women, the first medical training facility for women in Asia.
Opened by Edith Brown in 1984, the hospital was run by women for women's health. A pioneer in her field, Brown was awarded a Damehood in 1932.
