The handle formed from the Betsy Cains ship that carried William of Orange to England in 1688, the silver plaque inscribed ‘part of the Betsy Cains which under the name of the Princess Mary brought William of Glorious memory to England Novr 4th 1688, wreck near Tynemouth Feby 1827’, the copper matrix deeply engraved with a profile bus of King William with motto Derry Ennis Killen Boyne and AUGHRAM 14 June 1690'
