Anthony Gell (-1583)
Reader and Bencher of the Inner Temple, and of Hopton, Gell was knighted by Elizabeth I.
His legacy is vast, building the east wing of Hopton Hall and the Almshouses, most significantly, along with Agnes Fearne, were the founders of a Grammar School, Wirksworth, Derbyshire.
