Karen Wallace
After graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2006, Karen Wallace became apprenticed to the iconic Scottish silversmith, Malcolm Appleby. Based in the Perthshire hills, Appleby is regarded as the finest chaser and engraver working today and his influence can be seen in Wallace's pieces, particularly her gun scroll work.
A member of the Hand Engraver Association, Karen was the recipient of the prestigious ‘Jacques Cartier Memorial Award’ from the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Awards for her steel scroll rifle cover in 2023. Founded in 1958, it is the highest accomplishment presented by the Goldsmiths Company of London and is named after Jacques Cartier, who brought the Cartier jewellery brand to London in the early 20th-Century. The award has only been bestowed 42 times in the 65-year history and is much coveted by all makers, showing how accomplished Wallace is in her craft.
