Description
unregistered maker's mark, attributed to Thomas Gilpin, London 1755, of moulded oval outline, cast floral border to body, with engraved armorials to either side, the handles each modelled as a bird's beak to an acanthus scroll, raised on four lion mask clasped legs to paw and ball feet, the underside engraved with a presentation inscription 'by the Shareholders of Daniel Crawford & son Ld./ to/ Colonel Ewing Russell Crawford... 17th November 1913', the pull-off lid engraved with a crest and Earl's coronet to either side, the fixed handle of scroll form
