Footnote
Fred Archer was perhaps one of the greatest jockeys of all time, and was without question a legend in his own, shortly lived time. During his career he won 2748 races including 21 Classics and was awarded champion jockey on no fewer than 13 occasions.
His career was sadly cut short when in 1886 aged 29 he committed suicide. Made in the year of his death this piece must have been a high quality momento of such a famous and important sportsman of his day.
