Description
H J Batson & A E Batson, London 1896, of simple rectangular form with moulded ribs the obverse engraved with armorial and reverse named 'LOVAT 1896', the hinged cover opening to reveal ten numbered ivory peg markers, suspended from an oval link chain with unmarked novelty whistle formed as a dog's head

Heralrdy:
the arms are that of Simon Fraser 16th Lord Lovat, born 1871, died 1933. during his military career commanded both the Lovat Scouts in the Boer War and the Highland Mounted Brigade at Gallipoli.
