London 1967, of textured bar form, stamped to inner band
Before coming to London and making a name for himself as a ground breaking jeweller, Charles de Temple had a somewhat unlikely start to what would be a flourishing career. Born in America, he grew up as part of the Ringling Brothers famous circus, touring the country before turning his hand to nightclub singing and even the odd Hollywood western. Eventually he found his feet as a jeweller in Massachusetts, inspired by nature and the artists with whom he surrounded himself he moved to London to perfect his craft. De Temple responded to the growing need to move away from the stifling sense of tradition in jewellery design, finding an all too eager public he soon became a pioneer of jewellery design in the 1960s, each piece taking on an organic and unique personality to reflect the new modern individual who would wear it.
