Note: Wemyss Ware evolved over a period of years and as a result of various influences. Although 1882 appears to be the year when Wemyss Ware was first sold under that name, both the Fife Pottery and the Links Pottery in Kirkcaldy produced decorated ware for many years before then. Some of the products of Heron's Pottery closely resembled Wemyss Ware, as Robert Heron experimented, not only with the techniques, but also with the style, as this example demonstrates.
