Footnote
This previously unrecorded invalid cup or feeder appears to be a unique survival in Perth silver. It is also one of only a handful of non-communion wares tied to Hugh Clarke's hand. What is intriguing is a cup of the same pattern and with identical engraved initials is recorded by James Gordon of Aberdeen. Its current whereabouts is unknown. It was previously within the Sir John Noble Collection (sold Christies London 24th June 1981 lot 45) and latterly the David Morris Collection (sold David Morris Collection, Christie’s 3rd July 1984 lot 125).
