Footnote
The survival of early sugar or slop bowls which would have formed an important part of early tea services is surprisingly rare. This perhaps suggest that while teapots became fashionable, and a must have in silver early on, the equipage such as a bowl and milk jugs remained popular in ceramic. When looking at the survival of teapot to sugar / slop bowls and milk jugs the disparity is obvious.
