Footnote
The business of James & William Ferguson (Ferguson Brothers) was formed when in 1866 James brought his younger brother into the business he established in 1857. By 1870 they held the Royal Warrant from High Royal Highness The Prince of Wales (latterly King Edward VII) and are recorded using local stones gold and other materials in their Highland inspired work. By 1887 they merged once again with James McBean forming the successful partnership of Ferguson & McBean.
For further detail on James and William Ferguson as well as the continuation of their business as Fraser, Ferguson & MacBean can be found in ‘Highland Gold & Silversmiths’ by GP Moss and AD Roe.
