Note: Raised between 1777-1783, the 81st Highland Regmient of Foot was an infantry regiment in the British Army.
The regiment raised by General the Hon. William Gordon of Fyvie. Under the nose of his nephew Alexander Gordon, 4th Duke of Gordon, the raising of the regiment caused several family disputes.
It was disbanded after service in Ireland and Britain when it refused to sail to the West Indies in March 1783.
