the hemispherical bowl with cased borders of trailing flower heads within foliage, with large rococo scroll cartouche with presentation inscription' 'Presented to William Tomlinson Esq., London by Alexander McWhinnie, John McWhinnie & Mrs Nicholas Scott, surviving children of Agnes Nairn, wife of Gilbert McWhinnie, Glasgow, and sister to the late George Nairn of Queen Street, London, as a memorial of respect from them being an old acquaintance of their uncles, also for his attention in their interest at the final settlement of his affairs, Glasgow Novr. 1828.', raised on an inswept stem and spreading foot with chased foliate rim
