Note:
These enigmatic engraved Jacobite roses have previously been attributed to the Edinburgh engraver Robert Strange. A known Jacobite who produced various propaganda and official items for the Jacobite cause. He also produced the famous portrait of Prince Charles taken from life while on campaign in Edinburgh.
The names James Francis Edward, Charles Edward and Henry Benedict Stuart and Maria Sobieska on this piece along with the martyrs of the cause shows a real connection and detailed understanding of the 1745 uprising and its events.
