Note:
The arms as engraved are those of the families of Stoyte and Howard. Although separate these armorial bearings undoubtedly commemorate the marriage of John Stoyte of Street in the County of Westmeath (died 5th April 1748) and Mary Howard. John and Mary were married on the 7th October 1746. John was a Barrister at Law and served at one time as the Recorder of Dublin, whilst Mary was the eldest daughter of the Right Reverend Robert Howard, Bishop of Elphin and sister of Ralph Howard, the 1st Viscount Wicklow. John was the grandson of Alderman John Stoyte who served as Lord Mayor of Dublin in the year 1715. Although, sadly, the marriage of John and Mary lasted less than two years, they had a daughter, Mary who was born on the 8th October 1747. Mary’s widowhood lasted until 30th August 1753 when she married The Honourable Robert Butler, the third son of Brinsley Butler, the 1st Viscount Lanesborough. John and Mary’s daughter eventually married John Bligh, the 3rd Earl of Darnley on the 11th September 1766. She died on the 27th March 1803.
