The Crest of the Family of Guthrie of Craigie
The crest as engraved upon is that of the family of Guthrie of Craigie. It may be blazoned as follows:
Crest: A demi-lion rampant gules holding in his dexter paw a cross crosslet fitchy gules
Motto: Sto pro veritate [I stand for the truth]
The family of Guthrie of Craigie took possession of the Barony of Craigie in the County of Forfarshire from about 1728 and held the barony until 2003. The lands of the barony having been close to the east of Dundee, they now lie wholly within the boundary of modern Dundee. The family of Guthrie and its many branches were anciently established in the County of Forfarshire from at least the early 15th Century
