Note:
Originally raised in 1802 as The Inverness, Banff, Elgin and Nairn Militia was part of this patriotic structure. In 1833 they were amalgamated in the 76th Regiment (Inverness, Banff, Elgin and Nairn) Militia until 1881 when they would finally become the 2nd Militia Battalion of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.
During these changes the regiment was, for a brief time around 1855, recorded as The Inverness, Banff, Moray and Nairn Highland Light Infantry. Ferguson Brothers of Inverness are first recorded in 1866 so it must be between this date and 1881 that this rare relic of the regiment survives.
